Nesting American Bald Eagles 04/24/2013
These proud American Bald Eagle parents admire their young eaglets on a beautiful spring day near Fruita, Mesa County, Colorado. The eaglets are approximately two weeks ago. They are still being feed by the parents, rapidly growing and gaining weight. The eaglets will stay in the nest until they are approximately twelve weeks old and become fledglings.
American bald eagles are paired for life and will have two or three eaglets per year, caring for them until they are fledglings and leave the nest. The parents will guard the nest to protect the eaglets from predators until they are able to fly away and establish their own nests.
