Step off of your private jet and take a golf cart up to your residence. In the foreground is the edge of the airstrip. Isla Contradora (Counting House Island) was at one time the accounting center for pearls before they were shipped to Spain. Now it is the playground for the super-rich, flying in from Panama City, Panama or arriving on their boat, catamaran or yacht. Contradora is one of four islands in the Pearl Island Archipelago that is inhabited and the only one with an airstrip.
The islands produced pearls of many colors and sizes, and during the many years when pearls were harvested from the waters around the islands, the natives would converge to Contadora to count their pearls and sell them to the Spaniards. Ear...
