This giant blue heron is perched on a fallen tree at the edge of a lake at the James M. Robb State Park near Fruita, CO. This heron stood patiently for twenty minutes while fish jumped in the lake, but moving like a flying arrow he snagged a fish and flew off.
The James M. Robb State Park is a small park with campgrounds, fishing, bird watching, and Colorado River rafting within the city limits of Fruita, CO. During the summer the campsites are booked days in advance because of the proximity to the interstate.
