Nesting American Bald Eagles 12/22/2013
A mature American bald eagle watches an immature bald eagle take off from the perch. These eagles had been searching the Colorado River, near Fruita, Mesa County, Colorado for fish but were having no luck. The immature eagle departed and then the mature bald eagle left.
The bald eagle population in the lower forty-eight states has grown considerably thanks to the protection provided as a one-time endangered species, the work of state and federal wildlife officers and dedicated volunteers.
