The Tower Bridge spanning the Sacramento River connecting Sacramento, CA and West Sacramento was completed in 1935. It has been repainted a number of times and each time the color becomes a topic of conversation in the Sacramento area. Currently, the yellow/gold color is supposed to last thirty years. In 1982 the Tower Bridge was named to the National Register of Historic Places. The bridge is a lift bridge and when a boat needs to pass the center section of bridge lifts up like an elevator to permit river traffic.
