A fiery horse with speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty 'Hi-Yo Silver! The Lone Ranger...
With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early western United States. Nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice.
Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the past come the thundering hoofbeats of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again.
This image is the back cover of a 1955, The Lone Ranger Golden West, No 1, published by K.K. Publications, Inc. of Poughkeepsie, NY, comic book. The actor Clayton Moore, riding Silver was an iconic figure in early television. The success of the Lone Ranger on ABC television helped make the network a success. The Lone Ranger Television program with Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels as Tonto was on from 1949-51 and 1954-57.
