The beans, the best in the world, Arabica Geisha coffee beans naturally drying in the sun at the Ruiz Cafe coffee plantation in Boquete, Panama. You won't find these beans at Starbucks, but you might find them in Europe for about $400 per kilo, 2.2 pounds. These are the best that Ruiz Cafas to offer the consumer. However, the cost prevents mass distribution of this special bean, often called the Champagne of Coffee.
The Geisha variety, grown in the highlands of Boquete in Chirique Province, Panama, highly sought after at auction, achieving high prices. Originally from the village of Gesha, Ethiopia. It was planted in the 1950s as a rust resistant crop and rediscovered in the early 2000s. It's the most expensive varietal at coffee auctions.
