This boat house was built in 1950. It has survived every hurricane that has hit the coast of North Carolina since then. It has stood up through Hazel, Fran, Bertha, Floyd, Florence, Michael and many other serious storms that clobbered the coastline near Hubert, Onslow County, North Carolina. Twice it has been moved off the foundation but hasn't collapsed. During the flooding caused by Hurricane Florence the water level was as high as the power meter which can be seen on the western face of the building. This glowing sunburst image was one of the last ones taken with my Canon 60D camera, it died the night after this picture was taken.
