A summer lightning storm lights up the Panama Bay as cargo ships line up to enter the Panama Canal heading east to the Caribbean Sea. The image was captured using a lightning trigger mounted on my camera with a ten second exposure. This created an interesting and spectacular lightning array.
Cargo ships, cruise ships, privately owned ships all traverse the Panama Canal between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The country of Panama charges all ships a toll to use the canal. The toll must be paid forty-eight hours prior to the transit or they wait until it is paid. It is estimated that country of Panama makes one billion dollars per year profit on tolls collected at the canal. The population of Panama is three million people. Panama has the best infrastructure of all Central American countries.
