The Queen of the Night blooms only once during the darkness of the night and then as the sun starts to rise the bloom closes and in a couple of days dries up and falls of the cactus. Early in the morning while the flower is open bees seek honey and pollinate the flowers. When the bloom dies, black buds fall off the cacti littering the ground with the dead flower.
