The fiery sun backlights the coastal palms on Kona, HI. Views like this are very common in Hawaii. Maybe that is why it is one of America's top tourist destinations, not only for Americans but for people around the world. Captured with a Canon 60D
In the Hawaiian language, kona means leeward or dry side of the island, as opposed to koolau which means windward or the wet side of the island. In the times of Ancient Hawaiʻi, Kona was the name of the leeward district on each major island.
