This golden silk spider, also known as a banana spider, Nephila clavipes, weaves her web on a finca (ranch/farm) in the jungle of Panama. Even though these spiders look very scary their bite is less than a bee sting. They are found throughout Central America, Mexico and in the southern US states. A single thread of the silk has a tensile strength eight times of steel.
