These female desert bighorn sheep were photographed in the Colorado National Monument near Fruita, Colorado. They were a small portion of the female herd. During rutting season, November-December, the males and females travel in different herds. This group of females was at least thirty ewes and a few lambs. The desert bighorn sheep were introduced to the Colorado National Monument in 1979.
