Early morning winter day along the Colorado River near Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado. The brush, weeds, and short grasses are covered with hoar frost. Ice flows down the Colorado River as the sky glows golden. In the distance in the cottonwood trees a hawk or possibly an eagle is perched in one of the trees in the center of the image and a little to the left.
The water from the Colorado River flows from the headwaters near Steamboat Springs, Colorado to six other states and Mexico. Currently, there is a drought in Colorado and the states that share the water from Colorado will be looking at less instead of more for their water needs.
