A Great White Egret, Ardea alba egretta and a Snowy Egret, Egretta thula, perch on the lava rocks at Playa Coronado, Panama in search of food. These egrets are very similar in many ways but their size is the first noticeable difference along with the beak color and the color of their feet. The Snowy Egret has a black beak and yellow/gold feet while the Great White Egret has a gold/yellow beak and black feet. Both species spend many hours near the water's edge searching for food and strike their prey with very rapid movements.
